Trying Out New Manga Series! Part 1

 I HAVE TOO MANY VOLUME 1'S OF SERIES!

So, I am doing a project trying out 10 new manga series, since I own that many volume ones in my collection!  Here is what I am searching out.

Will I continue?

Will I continue to collect it physically?

Do I want to prioritize collecting it?

So, here are my findings on the first 5!

    1. The Girl With The Sanpaku Eyes, Vol 1.

            

            When I picked up this volume, I thought it would be really cute and fun.  Thankfully, I was not disappointed by reading the volume.  Mizuno is such an adorable protagonist, though she may look angry with her eyes, she is such an adorable marshmallow with a crush on her neighbor in class, Katou. 

            Watching them interact, it reminded me a lot of Komi and Todano from Komi Can't Communicate.  The dynamic is adorable, and I am really excited to continue collecting this one! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Do I want to prioritize collecting it?  YES

    2. Given, Vol 1.

           When my friends continued to recommend this particular title, it just kept moving down the list.  Now that I have read it, I think I was mistaken in not picking it up sooner. (TW: grief, loss of a classmate, loss of a loved one.) Mafuyu seems to be floating through life, swallowed by grief after the loss of a loved one. He carries around a guitar, but doesn't know how to play.

            When he starts hanging out at Uenoyama's favorite napping spot at school, Uenoyama starts to show him how to use this guitar, and to start to find a purpose in his life.  Uenoyama continues to be drawn in by the adorable Mafuyu, and even introduces him to his other band members.

            This is a series with a lot to say, packaged in a beautiful, musical package.  I am looking forward to more of this one. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

    3. The Apothecary Diaries Vol. 1.

            Maomao has been kidnapped, and sold to the palace.  Though she would love to send money home to her actual family, she is unable to. She has been trained as an Apothecary, with the abilities to read and write.  She didn't make it known in the palace, because she didn't want her kidnappers getting more money.

            When two of the emperor's consorts, as well as their infant children are ill, she leaves an anonymous note about poison, and is found out by the beautiful Jinshi, and he decides to use her talents in his favor, to make some political moves of his own.

            The art and story both in this one are absolutely fantastic!  I expect that this will be one of those series that I won't ever shut up about. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    4. Carole and Tuesday Vol. 1.

            Tuesday starts off our story. Raised with every luxury, she isn't able to express herself creatively at home.  Because of that, she ends up running away from home to Alba City. Mars has been colonized, and life is interesting there.  If you want to make it in "showbusiness," then Alba City is where you want to be.

            Carole was raised in an orphanage, and is doing her best working and getting by. Though she is lonely, she has a deep love of music, and also wants to make it big in Alba City.

            When these two souls come together, they make musical magic, and have such similar views on the world despite their upbringing, that they are able to work together as one.

            When a video of them performing together goes viral, their lives are truly changed.  For music lovers everywhere. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

    5. A Witch's Love at the End of the World Vol. 1.

            This yuri title features Alice and Mari.  Alice is gifted in magic, and is told to never fall in love, because if she does, then she will lose her powers. She is bright, and from a long line of very powerful and talented witches.

            Mari recently came into her powers after a strange incident, and is sent away by her family to this school where she meets Alice.  She doesn't understand her powers, and is tutored by Alice, so that she can use her magic more effectively.

            Alice also happens to be the class beauty, and all of the other witches think she is beautiful, so they are starting to feel jealous about Mari and Alice spending so much time together. 

            A sweet and interesting story for sure. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
