RHYTHM OF WAR BLEW MY MIND!!!

Image
Sanderson does it again: Rhythm of War changes the entire course of the Stormlight Archive!!     When I started hearing rumblings of people concerned about the future of the series after this book, I wasn't sure what I was going to be walking into.  What I ended up finding, is myself disagreeing with the people who had mixed feelings about this book, and the future of this series.     There are implications made within this series that give a much further reaching implication for the entirety of the cosmere.  I am truly excited for what will happen on Roshar, as well as within the rest of this universe. * SPOILER WARNING FOR THIS SERIES, BECAUSE THIS IS BOOK 4. IF YOU WANT TO AVIOD SPOILERS FOR THIS SERIES, IT IS TIME TO CLICK OFF THIS POST!  YOU HAVE OFFICIALLY BEEN WARNED!! * *A peek at my Sanderson Shelf!*     Starting out, I would HIGHLY recommend making sure that you read Dawnshard before diving into this book.  I know that it...

Trying Out New Manga Series: Part 2

Image
I've got 5 more series to try!  So let's dive in, shall we? If you missed part one, go  here        1.  The White Cat's Revenge as Plotted from the Dragon King's Lap Vol.1.              Ruri can't seem to catch a break in life.  Ever since she was little, a girl named Asahi has been there to thwart her intentionally at every corner.  When he is unexpectedly pulled into another universe with Asahi, Ruri is quickly on the bad side of everyone in the kingdom, and goes out into the country on her own.                     When she meets an older woman named Chelsie, she starts to discover that she actually has great magical powers, and wants revenge on the kingdom.  This is her story.               I love the innocence and joy that we see from Ruri.  The way that the Faeries continuall...

Trying Out New Manga Series! Part 1

Image
I HAVE TOO MANY VOLUME 1'S OF SERIES! So, I am doing a project trying out 10 new manga series, since I own that many volume ones in my collection!  Here is what I am searching out. Will I continue? Will I continue to collect it physically? Do I want to prioritize collecting it? So, here are my findings on the first 5!     1. The Girl With The Sanpaku Eyes, Vol 1.                             When I picked up this volume, I thought it would be really cute and fun.  Thankfully, I was not disappointed by reading the volume.  Mizuno is such an adorable protagonist, though she may look angry with her eyes, she is such an adorable marshmallow with a crush on her neighbor in class, Katou.                Watching them interact, it reminded me a lot of Komi and Todano from Komi Can't Communicate.  The dynamic is adorable, and I ...

ANOTHER 5 STAR READ?? WHAT IS HAPPENING IN 2021??

Image
There is SO MUCH to love about this Historical Romance!! TW: Domestic Abuse, Emotional Abuse, War related PTSD, Survivors Guilt, POW cruelty. Let's start with the fact that it is for all intents and purposes, a single parent romance. Both Jamie and Abigail are written appropriately for their age, and don't get tiresome on page. I enjoyed being in Abigail's perspective on occasion, because it was a way to help the story, but the narrative was true to that of a nine year old girl. Our female protagonist, Helen, is my kind of woman. She got into a bad situation really young, and tried to make the best of it. When it was clear it could never work in a way that was good for her, or her children, she does what she can. She asks for help and runs away from the person she is held captive by because he treats her like a posession, and not a person. She is sent to the swoon worthy Alistair Munroe, a man torn up from war physically and emotionally. His home is in shambles, and Helen g...

I PUT A VOLUME OF MANGA IN THE CORNER....

Image
*THIS POST WILL BE TALKING ABOUT SPOILERS FOR THE MANGA SERIES, DAYTIME SHOOTING STAR.  IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.     As you can see by this photo taken in the moment, I did literally put this volume of manga in a corner. This volume was mostly amazing, but the last chapter of this volume made me put it in here, and I want to talk about why.      We start off this volume with some exciting things.  We have Suzume showing up on the doorstep of Mamura, to finally give him her answer I was literally screaming once we got to the end of her monologue.     MY SHIP IS FINALLY STARTING TO OFFICIALLY SAIL!!! Mamura and Suzume finally begin their actual relationship, rather than their fake dating relationship.  With this, the two being the awkward behaviors of new relationships. Figuring out how to be around each other without constantly blushing. Though believe me, there is PLENTY of blushing in this volume....

A TRULY REMARKABLE AUDIOBOOK!

Image
Wow!  This audio production was AMAZING!!! Call Me Maybe by Cara Bastone 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Vera is making her dream of working for herself come true.  She has just one hangup left.  Her website is in SHAMBLES!!!  When she calls the customer service line for her website host, she isn't expecting the fun and flirty Cal on the other end of the line. He helps make this stressful situation easier to navigate, and helps her want to believe in love again.  Maybe she will take her brother up on the offer of setting her up with Fred. Cal wasn't expecting to have such a complicated customer service call, but is thoroughly entertained by the lovely Vera on the other end of the line.  He feels bad as he looks down at his bare feet and casual attire talking to her. Maybe he should dress up? Maybe he should ask her out?  Who knows. Maybe he should call his best friend and ask him what to think.  After all, he's just a programmer helping someone with a problem. I...

MY FIRST 5 STAR BOOK OF 2021

Image
Someday My Duke Will Come (Isle of Synne #2) by Christina Britton I was blown away by book 2 in the Isle of Synne series! I cried more than once reading this.  Tropes you will find: Fake Betrothal, From Spare to Heir, Older Heroine/Younger Hero, (not by much,) Friends to Lovers, Spinster Bride Trigger Warnings: Loss of a parent, loss of a child, loss of a sibling, verbal abuse from a parent. This book was BEAUTIFULLY crafted, and I am so glad it is the first official book I finished in 2021.  Quincy is the kind of hero that I love. He ran away from home as a teenager when his mother wanted to ship him off to the Navy right after the passing of his father. By taking matters into his own hands, he becomes a made man in America, and meets his best friend who is more like a brother than any of his 3 blood brothers. When his best friend (our hero in the previous book) meets the love of his life, Quincy meets the ever lovely Clara, who is 30, unmarried, and beautiful. Lady Cl...
