LOVE IN FOCUS SERIES REVIEW
I was lucky enough to convince the manager at my local Barnes and Noble to break open her boxes early so I could get my hands on the final volume of Love in Focus. And since you know I have no chill whatsoever, (maybe you dont, but now you do!) I went ahead and dug right into this volume
In this series we are following Mako. After the passing of an important family member to her, Mako has lost her footing. The only thing grounding her to this world was photography, which she shared with this important family member. Her life long friend, Kei, convinces her to go to school with him for the photography program. Upon her arrival, she stumbles across a beautiful boy with long hair, walking a dog with a peaceful look on his face. On instinct, she lifts her camera, and takes his photo.
She then apologizes to the beautiful boy, only to find out that they will both be living in the same boarding house. Even though he isn't in the photography club, everyone else in the boarding house is. The selling point for him was the dog. (Isn't the puppers cute? Plays a decent part in the story as a whole.) Through this, they are forced into a circumstance in which they have to get to know one another.
I won't say much more, because I really don't want to spoil you for the series. Though, I will tell you that this story does involve a love triangle with Mako, Kei, and the beautiful boy, Mitsuru. This is also a story about healing, and discovering what you really want.
The way this series ends shouldn't be a surprise as you read it, but it was definitely a short, sweet series, that I will revisit over and over again. I really enjoyed the way in which the ending came about, and that everyone was as comfortable as they realistically could have been by the end of the story.
I hope we get some more series from this particular mangaka. They also wrote That Wolf Boy is Mine. The art is stunning, and I really enjoy the stories for the most part. (TBH though, I wanted more of That Wolf Boy is Mine.) All in all, I'm happy, and I hope you will check out Love in Focus.
